Sailfish Dominate in Game 2, Beat Cedarville 16-6

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team played the second game of a four-game home series against the Yellow Jackets of Cedarville University. The Sailfish dominated throughout the game, winning 16-6.

The Sailfish jumped out to a quick lead in the first inning. Matty Warren and Sean Houck, two of PBA's best hitters this season, reached base with a pair of singles. Jiovel Lantigua doubled down the left field line to bring Warren in to score. A throwing error by the shortstop allowed Houck to cross home plate, making the score 2-0.

The Yellow Jackets would get a run of their own in the second inning after a bunt brought a runner in to score. However, PBA blew the game wide open by scoring nine runs in the third inning. Houck added to his stellar performance this season with a single to left field. Lantigua was able to work out a walk and Sebastian Salado followed up with an infield single that loaded the bases. A wild pitch allowed Houck to cross home plate for the second time.  Later in the inning, Jeff Manto reached on a walk and back to back center field hits from Nate Housen and Davis Blair helped three more Sailfish baserunners find their way to home plate. Cedarville gave up a couple of runs off of an infield error and some walks as well. To cap off the inning, Manto, batting for the second time that inning, got himself a two RBI single near the left side. The 'Fish took a commanding lead after three, leading 11-1.

The Yellow Jackets would not go quietly though, scoring a combined five runs in the fifth and sixth innings. The Sailfish would cut off any hopes at a comeback by scoring five runs of their own in the seventh inning to make the score 16-6. Justin Lovell got his second start of the season for the 'Fish and delivered a solid performance. He would go five innings with six hits, three earned runs, walk three and sit eight Cedarville batters down on strikes.

PBA will continue their series against Cedarville tomorrow Mar. 5 for a Saturday afternoon doubleheader.
