Sailfish Split Doubleheader, Lose Series Against Embry-Riddle 2-1

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic's baseball team continued their SSC series against the Eagles of Embry-Riddle in a double header earlier today. The Sailfish would split the two games, winning the first 2-0 and losing the second 10-1.

Mike Entenza would get the start in the first game of the double header and looked dominant throughout, pitching almost the entirety of the game. Entenza would only give up four total hits and strike out eight Eagle batters.

The game was very tightly contested for most of the game with neither side giving up an inch. The game would go scoreless through the first six innings with only eighth total hits combined. The tide would turn in the favor of the 'Fish in the seventh inning. Mikey Casaleggio would get on base and advance into scoring position after a wild pitch. Jake Roper would launch a hit to center field that moved Casaleggio 90 feet from home plate. Jeff Manto would also reach on a walk to load the bases.

Dylan Tosto emerged as the hero for the Sailfish, hitting a drive out to right field that brought Casaleggio and Roper in to score. Those would be the only two runs the 'Fish would get, but they did just enough defensively to keep Embry-Riddle scoreless.

Justin Lovell would pick up right were Entenza left off and complete the save to give PBA the win. Lovell would only pitch two thirds of an inning, but did his job to secure the outcome of the first game.

Game two of the double header is most likely one that the Sailfish would like to have back. The Sailfish defense had trouble keeping the Eagles from scoring, giving up 14 total hits and making four errors.

Much like the first double header game, the offense for PBA had a tough go of things throughout the afternoon. The 'Fish tallied just five hits and left seven runners on base. A bright spot came in the seventh inning off of a Casaleggio triple to left-center and an RBI single from Jeff Manto. However, that would be the only offense the Sailfish could muster as they dropped the second game 10-1 and the three-game series 2-1.

The 'Fish will look to next week when they take on #12 Rollins four times back home at J.M "Jake" Rubin Park.
