WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team took on the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College in a mid-week matchup earlier this evening. The Sailfish dominated throughout the game, winning 12-3.
The Griffins would be the first team to get on the board in the first inning, but the 'Fish responded with four runs of their own.
Sebastian Salado grounded out to second base, but was able to pick up an RBI to get the Sailfish rolling in the inning.
Davis Blair added to his impressive hitting stretch for PBA with a two-RBI single, and
Jake Roper launched a sacrifice fly ball out to center field to bring
Nate Housen in to score. Salado would add to the Sailfish lead in the second inning with a line drive down the left field line for a two-RBI double to make the score 6-1.
The dominant night for PBA continued into the middle innings as well. Salado's impressive night continued in the fourth with another multiple RBI double, earning five total RBIs for the game.
Jeff Manto followed up Salado's double with a single to right field that brought
Sean Houck in to score.
Jake Roper smashed a solo homer in the fifth and
Matty Warren coasted across home plate on a wild pitch in the sixth to take full control over the game.
The 'Fish would get one more insurance run in the eighth off of a single by Houck that brought
Blake Ebo, who saw his first action tonight since his injury, in to score.
The PBA bullpen gave the Griffins all they could handle in this matchup. The combined efforts of
Christian Horner,
David Chenoweth,
Liam Martin,
Daniel Foster and
Andrew Sieczkowski made it tough on the Chestnut Hill hitters throughout the game. They would only give up five hits, three runs and strike out three batters. Chenoweth will stay even with a 1-1 record after being credited with the win tonight.
PBA will play again on Mar. 12-13 when they go on the road for an SSC matchup against Embry-Riddle.
