WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team played their second game of the season tonight against #20 Catawba College. The Sailfish won in walk-off fashion in the 11
th inning off of an RBI single from
Blake Ebo.
PBA once again jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. Ebo led off with a double and was brought home after a throwing error from the Indians.
Davis Blair reached on a walk, and a double down the right field line brought home both Blair and
Sebastian Salado. The Sailfish finished the first inning leading 3-0. The Indians would eventually tie the game up in the fifth inning after an RBI triple from Dawson Painter and an RBI double from Joe Butts.
Nick Adams got the ball for the 'Fish to start the game and had a solid showing in his Sailfish debut. He would go 4.2 inning pitched, 5 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Catawba would eventually take the lead late into the game. The Indians made a big run in the eighth inning after a 3-run homer to left field, making the score 6-4. The Sailfish would bounce back in the ninth inning after a
Jake Roper RBI double tied the game at 6-6. The game would eventually go into extra innings. After some costly errors by the Indians, the Sailfish loaded the bases in the bottom of the 11
th.
Blake Ebo singled to left field bringing in
Nate Housen as the winning run to take down the #20 ranked Indians.
Ruairi Murphy earned the win as the relief pitcher tonight for the Sailfish as they move to 2-0 on the season. He was great in the clutch for the Sailfish, going 3 innings, allowing zero runs, and fanning three batters.
PBA will hit the diamond again for their third of a four-game stretch tomorrow afternoon when they host Tusculum at J.M. "Jake" Rubin park. The Sailfish will look to keep the early home streak alive.
