WEST PALM BEACH, Fla- The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team dropped a match at home to the Keiser Seahawks 5-1. For the 'Fish (2-2) it was the first match they've lost at home all season.
In doubles competition,
Roberto Binaghi and
Luis Eduardo Platas fell to Charly Zick and Juan Marrero 6-3. The PBA pair of
Umberto Rosi and
Jorge Santamaria lost to Geronimo Barrios and Soufiane El Mesbahi 6-4. A bright spot for the 'Fish during doubles competition came from
Rodolfo Hasegawa and
Blake Williams. The tandem faced Luke Simkiss and Yassir Kilani. The match came dow to the wire for Williams and Hasegawa to pull out 7-6 victory.
In singles competition, Rosi dropped a two set match to Luke Simkiss 6-2, 6-3. PBA's
Juan Fernandez fell to Bart Nouws 6-2, 6-4. Eduardo Platas lost too El Mesbahi 6-0, 6-3. Binaghi faced Barrios in a three set battle. Barrios took the first set 6-2. Binaghi won the second set 6-3. Barrios squeaked out a victory in the third set with a 10-8 tiebreaker. The lone victory for the Sailfish in singles competition came from Santamaria. Santamaria defeated Oervad 6-2, 6-3.
The Sailfish will hit the road to Boca Raton to face Lynn on Feb. 28.
