SAINT LEO, Fla- The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team fell to the No. 3 Saint Leo Lions 7-0 on Saturday. For the Sailfish (2-1, 1-1) it's their first loss of the season.
In doubles competition,
Roberto Binaghi and
Luis Eduardo Platas dropped their match 6-3 to Bruno Faletto and Willem Van Den Akker. The pair of
Rodolfo Hasegawa and
Blake Williams fell to Nicolas Bacella and Luis Iriarte 6-2. The tandem of
Umberto Rosi and
Jorge Santamaria pulled out a narrow 7-6 victory over SLU's Vincent Thiel and Brad Eidenmuller.
The Lions swept the 'Fish in singles competition. Rosi dropped a two set match to Bruce Faletto 6-4, 6-2. Binaghi lost in two sets to Nicolas Bacella 6-2, 6-4. Santamaria fell to Vincent Thiel 6-4 in consecutive sets.
Luis Eduardo Platas went to three sets against SLU's Ghali Mensour. Platas won the first set 6-2 but dropped the second set to a tiebreker 7-6. Mensour pulled away in the third set 10-4. Williams dropped a two set match to Luis Iriarte 7-5, 6-3.
Juan Fernandez lost 6-2 in consecutive sets to Brad Eidenmuller.
The Sailfish will face off against Keiser on Thursday Feb. 17 at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
