WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Palm Beach Atlantic's Director of Athletic Communications Cole Helman was named to the new 30 Under 30 class of 2022 by the College Sports Communicators. The class was created by the association's Young Professionals Committee to recognize outstanding young professionals throughout the membership.
"It is a privilege to be selected as a part of the first CSC 30 Under 30," Helman said. "I have been blessed with amazing mentors and leaders during my time at Palm Beach Atlantic, Embry-Riddle (Fla.), and Grace College. I would not be where I am today without each of them. They have really helped shape me into the professional I am today. I am so thankful I get the chance to serve our student-athletes and work with some incredible coaches and administrators. I am excited to continue to grow as a leader to better serve my staff and our department as a whole."
Helman joined PBA in July of 2019 as the assistant sports information director for two years before he was quickly promoted to lead the athletic communications department in 2021. At the time of his promotion, Helman became the youngest head SID (24) in the Sunshine State Conference. He has served as the department's primary graphic designer and has led the revamping of the Sailfish social media accounts and the newly released athletic website, pbasailfish.com. Throughout his time, he has served as the primary contact at various points for men's basketball, volleyball, softball, tennis, track, women's lacrosse, and women's soccer.
"This class represents 30 of the brightest young talents in College Sports Communicators at all levels," 2022-23 CSC President Jessica Poole said. "We're thankful to the Young Professionals Committee for spearheading the effort to get this program off the ground. It's one example of the type of programming and recognition we want to do more of as we do the work to support our new organizational name and brand. Congratulations to all the deserving winners."
A Maryland native, Helman is a graduate of Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind. He began his collegiate athletic career with the Lancers as a sports information student assistat, managing gameday operations for six NCCAA basketball national championship events. He also provided play-by-play and color commentary for select home events. After receiving his B.S. in Sport Business & Accounting as well as a Master's of Business Administration, Helman found his way to the Sunshine State Conference at Embry-Riddle where he served as a sports information assistant during the 2018-19 academic year.
While in Daytona Beach with Embry-Riddle, Helman served as the direct contact for men's soccer, softball, and men's golf and the secondary contact for women's soccer, baseball, tennis, and men's lacrosse. He created content for social media accounts and print while also collaborating to launch a redesign of the Eagle's official website. In addition, he was involved in directing multi-camera broadcasts for live events and developing highlight videos.
Helman has served on the CSC Young Professionals Committee since 2021 and was a key piece in forming the 30 Under 30 List which selected from a list of over 100 nominees to recognize 30 individuals across the Division I, II, III, and NAIA levels of college athletics.
