WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic softball head coach
Ty Singleton has released the schedule for the upcoming 2023 season.
The Sailfish enter their second season under Singleton, who joined PBA a year ago. The 2023 slate features 43 games, including 29 games at the friendly confines of Simpson Field.
PBA starts the year with a tough non-conference slate. First pitch takes place on Feb. 3 as part of a doubleheader with a Valdosta State program that finished at No. 12 in the NFCA top 25 last season. PBA faces West Florida on Feb. 4. The Argos won 30 games last season. Sailfish look to avenge last season's 3-2 loss to UWF. A single game against Alabama-Huntsville finishes the opening weekend. UAH finished last season as the No. 25 team in the country.
Matchups with Colorado School of Mines, East Stroudsburg, West Liberty, Caldwell, and Kutztown round out the rest of the non-conference schedule for the Sailfish.
PBA starts its first SSC series by hosting Saint Leo on Feb. 17-18. The Sailfish travel to Tampa on Feb. 24-25 to face the reigning SSC co-champion Spartans. PBA hosts the other SSC co-champion, Nova Southeastern for a three-game series on March 3-4.
Other notable matchups include an away series at Embry-Riddle on April 15-16 and a home series against Rollins on April 22. The Eagles finished fourth in the conference, and the Tars placed third in the SSC with 32 overall wins.
Singleton faced the task of replacing six starters from last year's team, including All-Region shortstop
Meredith Milam and All-SSC honoree
Katherine Budnovich. PBA does return All-SSC honoree
Daylin Hejtmanek and other key returners to the lineup,
Briana Rodriguez,
Faith Allen, and
Elisa Grande.
Cambria Arturo and
Lacy Marty will be relied on in the circle along with
Karen Vasquez and
Chloe Nepveux.
This Sailfish team features seven new faces.
Larken Maseda,
Bella O'Connor,
Rhiannon Sibbett,
Gracie Mullett,
Ashlyn Storms,
Bianca Green, and
Madison Schlichte are poised to make their PBA debuts this season.
