FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The Palm Beach Atlantic softball team faced off against Nova Southeastern, falling 4–0 on Friday night at NSU Softball Stadium. The 'Fish managed three hits, while the Sharks took advantage with two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.
The turning point came in the fourth inning when the Sharks found a way to put pressure on the Sailfish's pitching. The 'Fish limited the damage to just two runs on two walks and two-run double. The Sharks added two more in the fifth, including an RBI triple.
PBA sought a comeback in the fifth inning as
Kierea Smits reached on an error, advancing to third thanks to a sacrifice bunt by
Miranda Rollins and a groundout from
Madison Schlichte. Unfortunately, the momentum was halted, leaving Smits stranded at third.
The 'Fish continued to create opportunities, highlighted by
Kaitlyn Campbell's single in the sixth, but converting into runs proved elusive.
On the mound,
Rylee Little and
Lauren Allen shared responsibilities. Little threw one inning, allowing two runs on two hits with three walks. Allen delivered a commendable performance over 5 innings, surrendering just two earned runs on two hits, while striking out four and maintaining a low WHIP of 0.80.
