NEW ORLEANS, La. -- This afternoon, the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released their national rankings for the eighth week of the fall cross country season. This poll comes right before the NCAA DII National Championships take place in Seattle. The Sailfish women's cross country team finished in 26th in this week's rankings after being locked in at 30th previously.
This new program-high ranking comes fresh off of the heels of an impressive second place finish at the NCAA South Region Championship. All of the Sailfish runners gave their best effort, with reigning Sunshine State Conference Runner of the Year
Madelyn Rodriguez placing fifth overall. Other All-SSC runners like
Laura Georgelin and
Dune Costes earned top 15 finishes to secure the second place team finish.
Adams State holds on to the number one spot in the country for the eighth consecutive week. Fellow SSC member Tampa University moves into 29th place and South Region opponent Lee University moves into the top ten.
PBA looks to use this new ranking as momentum as they compete in the DII National Championships on Dec. 2.
