DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Sailfish women's track team hit the road over the weekend to take part in the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic, turning in several personal best times.
Abigail Bateman turned in a personal best in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:50 to claim second in the event. Bateman also competed in the 800 meters, taking 5th with a time of 2:27.58.
In the 5000 meters the Sailfish saw eight runners compete and set personal best times led by Hannah Caldwell who took 2nd in the race. Caldwell turned in a time of 18:15. She was followed by Allison Seng (18:23) in 6th place and Dune Costes (18:56) in 9th and Emma Baron (19:11) in 10th. Katie Kanagy (19:20) led a pack of 'Fish runners in 12th with Christin Sustar (19:25) and Emily Powers (19:25) right behind. Kathleen Boshka (19:39) also competed in the race.
Kaelyn Lakey was the lone sprinter on the track for PBA during the event, posting a 29.20 time in the 200 meters.
The 'Fish will be back on the track in two weeks as they compete at the South Florida Collegiate Challenge Championship at Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar.
