MIRAMAR, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's track team competed in its first event of the spring, taking part in the South Florida Challenge No. 2 hosted by St. Thomas and Nova Southeastern.
PBA's date was highlighted by a victory in the 3200 meters relay by the team of
Abigail Bateman,
Emily Powers,
Dune Costes,
Allison Seng,
Hannah Caldwell and
Christin Sustar. The time of 10:30.04 was ahead of second place by over nine seconds.
The Sailfish had nine participants in the 5000 meters with Seng leading the way with a time of 18:47.42 to take first in the race. Coming in at second place was Caldwell with a time of 19:03.03 in her first track event as a Sailfish. She was followed by Costes who placed third with a time of 19:25.23.
Emma Baron (19:25.57) and
Katie Kanagy (19:57.62) also finished in the top five.
Bateman, who also made her PBA track debut on Saturday, took third place in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:01.95.
Abby Reburn finished in the top 10 finishing at 5:33.84
Kaelyn Lakey (1:07.11) finished in eighth as the lone PBA participant in the 400 meters. Lakey also competed in the 200 meters with a time of 29.63.
PBA will compete again back in Miramar on Saturday at the Ansin Sports Complex.
