DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team (0-2, 0-1 SSC) traveled to face No.24-ranked Embry-Riddle (1-0, 1-0) on Wednesday.
The Sailfish got off to a rough start by surrendering the doubles point.
Rodolfo Hasegawa and
Erik Carlsten dropped the match at no. 1 doubles to Juan Ortiz Couder and Andres Donayre, 4-6.
Philipp Hoffmann and
Blake Williams competed at No. 3 doubles, losing 4-6 which clinched the doubles point for the Eagles.
Jorge Santamaria and
Umberto Rosi pushed Lucas Bos and Alexis Guedy to their limit, but lost at No. 2 doubles 6-7.
ERAU won its second point at No. 2 singles after Rosi had to retire. Couder bested Carlsten at No. 1 singles 2-6, 4-6 to make it 3-0 Eagles. Hoffmann kept the 'Fish alive by picking up the win at No. 4 singles, 2-6, 7-6 (3), 6-0. The Eagles did earn the win after
Luis Eduardo Platas dropped his match at no. 5 singles, 7-6 (6), 3-6, 3-6. Hasegawa ended PBA's day on a high note by picking up the win at No. 6 singles 6-7 (3), 6-3, 10-6.
The Sailfish will travel to Florida Southern on March 13. The match is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m.
