LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball team's
Jazz Schmidt was named a second-team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Tuesday.
Schmidt earns the 20th AVCA All-American honor in Sailfish volleyball history. She is the 11th different Sailfish to earn All-American honors from the AVCA.
The awards keep pouring in for the Parker, Colo. native who earned AVCA and D2CCA All-Region honors last week. Schmidt was also named the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year following the conclusion of the regular season.
The senior played every set for the 'Fish this season, leading PBA with a team-high 766 assists (6.38/s) and .382 hitting percentage while finishing second on the team with 344 kills (2.87/s) and 297 digs (2.48/s). She recorded 10 triple-doubles this season which currently stands as the most in all of NCAA DII. Her .382 hitting percentage this season is the highest single-season mark in PBA's DII-era.
Schmidt's efforts helped lead the Sailfish volleyball program back to the NCAA Regional Tournament. PBA's season came to an end in the first round of the tournament as the Sailfish fell to Tampa on Thursday.
