WEST PALM BEACH. Fla- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer team received an individual award from the Sunshine State Conference office this afternoon as PBA goalkeeper Rachel Neumann earned SSC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Neumann marks the first PBA women's soccer Player of the Week winner since the 2019 season. After missing two matches due to injury, Neumann returned in style with a four save shutout in PBA's 1-0 victory over Lynn on Oct. 13. The Iowa native has put together an impressive 2021 campaign in net for the Sailfish. Neumann has recorded 25 saves, with a .923 save percentage, and four shutouts along with only allowing two goals all season. The 'Fish are an undefeated 7-0 when Neumann starts in net.
The No.16 Sailfish (8-2, 5-1 SSC) are currently atop the SSC standings. They will conclude their season with four conference matches before the SSC tournament. This upcoming week for the 'Fish features home matchups with No.25 Embry-Riddle on Wednesday, Oct. 20 and Eckerd on Saturday, Oct. 23.
