Sailfish Walk Off Pioneers

WINTER PARK, Fla. - Palm Beach Atlantic baseball had a walk-off victory on Saturday night against Malone University in the third game of the Rollins College Tournament. The Sailfish (8-8, 1-2 SSC) fought back in the ninth to overcome a two run deficit over the Pioneers (5-4) to win the ballgame by a final score of 5-4.

Down 4-2 in the ninth, the Sailfish started the inning drawing back-to-back walks to put runners at first and second. After a failed sacrifice bunt attempt, Robert Fabelo stepped up to the plate and doubled down the left-field line bringing home Sean Houck and advancing Louis Zayas to third. Senior Derek Schwimer followed that up with a single through the left side of the infield to bring home the tying run and moving Fabelo to third.  Brandon Seltzer was then intentionally walked to load the bases. With two outs and bases loaded, Brandon Smith came up to the plate and drew a four-pitch walk to bring home Fabelo giving the Sailfish the 5-4 win.

Chris Campbell started on the hill for the 'Fish going 4.1 innings and surrendering only one hit and one run while striking out three. Joey Hennessey entered the game in relief and pitched 2.2 shut-out innings giving up only one hit and striking out four. His performance earned him the win giving him a 1-2 record on the year.

The Sailfish once again out-hit their opponent knocking eight base hits in the game, including three doubles. Schwimer had a multiple hit game going two-for-three with a walk and an RBI. Smith was also on base three times in the contest with one hit and two walks, one of which was the game winner. Seltzer, Ramon Machado, Andreas Papageorge, Zayas, and Fabelo each had one hit as well.

PBA will take on Eckerd College for the fifth time this season on Sunday, March 8 at 10 am in Winter Park to conclude the Rollins College Tournament for the Sailfish.
