Sailfish Fall To Tars In Day Two Of Rollins College Tournament

WINTER PARK, Fla. - Palm Beach Atlantic baseball was defeated by Rollins College on the second day of the Rollins College Tournament. The Sailfish (7-8, 1-2 SSC) out-hit the Tars (11-7, 2-1 SSC) but were unable to convert those hits to runs as they fell 3-2 on Friday evening.

Christian Denton (2-2) started the game for the Sailfish pitching 6.1 innings in the tough-luck loss to the host team. Denton threw 95 pitches giving up only two hits but three runs while striking out three along the way. Andreas Papageorge came in from right field to relieve Denton in the seventh inning. Papageorge went on to pitch 1.2 innings giving up only one hit with three strikeouts.

The Sailfish were able to score right out of the gate with three two-out singles in the first. Brandon Seltzer got things rolling with a single to center followed by Robert Fabelo who singled through the second-base side. With runners on the corners, Brandon Smith got a knock to centerfield to bring home Seltzer giving the Sailfish the early 1-0 lead.

The Tars answered right back in the bottom of the inning tying the game at 1-1. Rollins would go ahead 2-1 in the third before adding another run in the seventh to make it 3-1.

PBA chipped away at the lead in the eighth inning scoring an unearned run to put the score at 3-2. The Sailfish loaded the bases in the ninth but could not bring any baserunners home, ending the game with a 3-2 score in favor of the Tars.

The 'Fish were able to produce nine hits with Seltzer and Freshman Louis Zayas each collecting two. Sean Houck, Jeremy Texel, Ramon Machado, Fabelo, and Smith all had one hit apiece with Smith collecting the lone RBI for the 'Fish.

Palm Beach Atlantic will finish out round-robin play Saturday, March 7 taking on Malone University at 3 p.m. in Winter Park.
