LAKE NONA, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team faced stiff competition on Thursday in the form of No. 9 Hawaii Pacific.
PBA (3-4) put up a good fight, but ultimately fell to the Sharks, 4-0. HPU (8-5) took control from the start, as Ondrej Ctverak and Matej Panik defeated the team of
Philipp Hoffmann and
Roberto Binaghi, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 doubles,
Rodolfo Hasegawa and
Erik Carlsten fell to Benjamin Loccisano and Marcel Horsung, 6-2 to clinch the doubles point for HPU.
In singles,
Miguel Paz lost to Cheng-Cheng wang, 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 6 spot. Loccisano defeated Hoffmann, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, followed by Carlsten falling short to Panik, 6-3, 7-5 to clinch the match 4-0 for the Sharks.
The Sailfish will travel back to Lake Nona, Fla. to face Southern New Hampshire on Saturday. The match starts at 1 p.m.
