Florence S.C. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team played its first match of the Spring on Saturday at the Florence City Collegiate Tournament.
The Sailfish played Augusta in the first round of play, and won convincingly over the Jags, 4-0. PBA will move on to play Lander in the second round of the tournament at 9 a.m.
The team of
Rodolfo Hasegawa and
Erik Carlsten finished first on the No. 2 doubles court. They defeated the opposing Alvaro Quereda and Lucas Bolle 6-2.
Jorge Santamaria and
Roberto Binaghi followed with a 6-3 win on the No. 3 court which clinched the doubles point for the Sailfish.
PBA picked up right where it left off when it started singles play.
Philipp Hoffmann earned the win on court one, 6-0, 6-1 and his teammates kept the momentum going.
Umberto Rosi was next to finish in No. 2 singles. He won his match 6-3, 6-0. Carlsten's performance at No. 5 singles clinched the match for PBA as he earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory.
If the Sailfish win their match against Lander tomorrow, they will play the winner of Francis Marion and Barton at 2 p.m.
