LAKE NONA, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team played Davenport in a neutral site match on Friday.
After dropping their last three matches, the Sailfish bounced back with an impressive 7-0 win over the Panthers. PBA won nearly match that was played, with the only loss coming in one doubles match.
In doubles play,
Joao Vellosso and
Philipp Hoffmann got the momentum going for PBA with a win at the No. 3 spot. The duo defeated Davenport's Daniil Khitrou and Matt Leatherman, 6-2.
Erik Carlsten and
Rodolfo Hasegawa clinched the doubles point for the Sailfish by winning their match at No. 1 doubles, 6-3.
PBA picked up right where it left off in singles play. Hasegawa earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles and
Umberto Rosi got the win at the No. 3 spot, 6-1, 6-3 to make it 3-0 PBA. Carlsten clinched the match for the 'Fish with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles.
Miguel Paz kept things rolling for the Sailfish with a 6-3, 6-3 win at the No. 6 spot, and lastly Hoffmann got the 6-4, 6-2 win at the No. 1 spot to complete the 7-0 sweep for PBA.
The Sailfish return home to face Mercyhurst on March 3. The match at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center takes place at 1 p.m.
