WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team played its first home match of the spring on Sunday against No. 25 Embry-Riddle.
The Sailfish were forced to play from behind early after dropping each doubles match. Phillipp Hoffman and
Umberto Rosi faced the No. 22-ranked team of Juan Ortiz Couder and Andres Donayre in No. 1 doubles. The Eagles won that match 6-2 followed by a win at No. 3 doubles over
Roberto Binaghi and
Miguel Paz to clinch the doubles point.
ERAU (3-0, 2-0 SSC) kept the momentum going in singles play, starting with a win at No. 6 singles over PBA's (1-3, 0-1 SSC) Paz. The Sailfish got on the board thanks to a win by Erik Calsten at the No. 5 spot over Fernando Alonso, 6-1, 6-2. It was all Embry-Riddle the rest of the way. The Eagles picked up wins at the No. 4 spots and No. 2 spots to clinch the match. ERAU went on to win the match 6-1.
PBA will travel to Lake Nona, Fla. on Friday to play Davenport in a neutral site match at 5 p.m.
