JUPITER, Fla. - Palm Beach Atlantic baseball lost their third straight game on Wednesday night at Rodger Dean Stadium. The Sailfish (2-4) struggled to get timely hits while the Fighting Knights (3-3-1) were able to convert giving them the 5-2 victory.
Senior transfer Frankie Fernandez made his PBA debut going two innings and surrendering four hits on four runs. Christian Denton took over in the third and was able to keep the Sailfish in the game pitching five innings only giving up two hits and one run while striking out five strikeouts. Troy Klemm finished the game going one inning giving up one hit and no runs.
The Sailfish offense collected as many hits as the Fighting Knights but were unable to get those baserunners across the plate. PBA to scored one run in the third inning and one run in the sixth. In the third inning the Sailfish scored on a single up the middle by Derek Schwimer which allowed Carlos Lara to score, who doubled down the right field earlier in the inning. The 'Fish manufactured a run in the sixth when Brandon Smith singled and Sebastian Salado followed double. Robert Fabelo then grounded out to second base which brought home Smith.
Schwimer, Smith, and Salado each had two hits for the Sailfish.
Palm Beach Atlantic will return to play next week as they play on Tuesday Feb. 18th taking on Nova Southeastern at J.M. "Jake" Rubin Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
