BOCA RATON, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic baseball lost the continuation of Friday's series opener but rebounded in game two to even up the series with Lynn on Saturday. PBA now sits 23-25 on the season as Lynn is 20-27 heading into the season finale on Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
Game One: Lynn 6, PBA 4
The Sailfish and Fighting Knights picked up in the bottom of the fifth, as Lynn scored a run in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead.
PBA got one back in the sixth, as Ramon Machado reached and advanced to third on a Danny Tufariello double. Machado scored on a Brandon Seltzer RBI groundout.
Lynn added two more runs to take a 6-2 lead, but Connor Rowland hit a two-run homer in the eighth to cut the lead to 6-4.
Sean Houck and Derek Schwimer picked up hits in the ninth to get the go-ahead run to the plate but Lynn was able to shut the door on the victory.
Schwimer, Tufariello, and Rowland all finished the game with two hits, as Seltzer and Rowland finished with two RBI each.
Game Two: PBA 5, Lynn 3
PBA got off to a good start in the finale, as Christian Denton kept the Fighting Knights off the scoreboard early in the game. Damian Allione picked up an RBI single in the second inning to break the scoreless tie, and the Sailfish added a second run in the inning on a wild pitch.
Neither team scored again until the seventh inning, as Denton finished with six shutout innings and a career high of 10 strikeouts.
Brandon Seltzer doubled the Sailfish lead in the top of the seventh, as the junior clubbed his ninth homer of the season to put the 'Fish up 4-0. Lynn got one back in the bottom half of the inning, and the 'Fish scored again in the top of the ninth as Seltzer came through again with two outs.
The Knights scored two more in the bottom of the ninth but Orsen Josephina closed the game with a strikeout to pick up his seventh save of the season.
Derek Schwimer finished 3-for-5 in the game as Sean Houck and Seltzer added two hits each.
