Sailfish Split Doubleheader with Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic softball split a doubleheader with Embry-Riddle on Saturday, as they won the first game 1-0 behind a two-hit shutout from Abbey Busby but dropped the finale 2-0.  The 'Fish now sit 23-19 on the season and 11-10 in Sunshine State Conference play.

Game 1: PBA 1, ERAU 0

The Sailfish plated a run in the top of the second as Kaylee Winn singled to center and stole second base.  Winn proceeded to advance to third on a ground ball and scored on an errant ERAU throw.

The run was all that Busby needed as the sophomore continued her stellar season, allowing just two hits, both of which came in the fifth inning, and completed the shutout of the Eagles.  Busby picked up her 18th win of the season in the game.

The 'Fish collected just two hits of their own in the game, as Maddie Bertisch added a single up the middle.

Game 2: ERAU 2, PBA 0

The 'Fish struggled once again at the plate in the finale, as they tallied six hits but were unable to plate a run off the Eagles.  The Sailfish had runners in scoring position several times in the game but were unable to come up with a two-out RBI.

Busby held the Eagles scoreless into the fourth inning but ran into some trouble allowing two runs in the fourth.  The Sailfish got out of the jam as Magnolia West threw out a runner at the plate.

Taylor Pennica threw a scoreless fifth inning and Busby re-entered to pitch a scoreless sixth inning in the game.

West led the 'Fish at the plate with a 2-for-4 game in the finale.

PBA will return to action on April 12, as they will host Florida Southern for an SSC weekend series at Simpson Field.
