TAMPA, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic track and field competed at the South Florida Collegiate Invitational Friday and Saturday in Tampa. The event was hosted by University of South Florida.
In the men's javelin throw the Sailfish had Jon Paul Ogle finish second with a distance of 48.10 meters with Jared Yamada finishing third at a distance of 41.46 meters.
Denny Murphy finished ninth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.89 and finished 14th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.47.
In the women's 800 meter run Avery Knehans finished 22nd with a time of 2:39. While in the men's 800 meter run Joshua Read finished 11th at 2:04, Jack Blyth finished 16th at 2:06, and Tim Koritz finished 18th at 2:08.
Cami Rickenbach finished 12th in the women's 1500 meter run followed by Knehans at 23rd, Abby Reburn at 26th, Christin Sustar at 35th and Hope Kanagy at 39th.
On the men's side in the 1500 meter run the Sailfish saw Ty Fisher finish eighth, Koritz finish ninth, Read finish 10th, and Tyler Ketcham finish 11th.
Rickenbach took second place in the women's 5000 meter run with a time of 18:47. Elise Combs was the next Sailfish to finish at 17th with a time of 19:53 and Reburn finished at 20:08 to place 19th.
The big win of the event came in the men's 5000 meter run as Fisher placed first with a time of 15:29. Kortiz finished 5th with a time of 15:59, and Ketcham finished 10th with a time of 16:16.
The event marked the end of the 2019 track and field season.
