WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis was toppled by No. 1 Barry on Friday afternoon.
The 'Fish picked up their lone win at No. 2 doubles as all three doubles matches were tightly contested. Philipp Hoffmann and Umberto Rosi picked up that win, 6-4, over Alejandro Gallego and Alejandro Palacios. The Bucs took the No. 1 doubles match 6-4 and the match at No. 3 7-6 (2).
In singles play the 'Fish forced a third set in both No. 5 and No. 6 but neither Erik Carlsten nor Carlos Niemeyer were able to pick up the victories. Carlsten dropped the opening set to Blake Bayldon 6-0 before taking the second 6-3 but Bayldon responded to take the third 6-0. Niemeyer fell victim in the first to Filip Zupancic 6-1 before taking the second 6-2 but Zupancic responded to take the third 6-4.
The Sailfish return to action on Sunday as they travel to Winter Park to take on Rollins at 1 p.m.
