HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis closed out their week in Hilton Head with a 5-2 victory over Mercyhurst on Friday, securing a perfect 5-0 week in the process.
The Sailfish took two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point as the duos of Erik Carlsten/Rodolfo Hasegawa and Philipp Hoffmann/Carlos Niemeyer both were victorious. Carlsten and Hasegawa won 6-1 while Hoffmann and Niemeyer blanked their opponents 6-0.
In singles Hoffmann won in straight sets playing at the No. 1 position, defeating Cormac McCooey 6-3, 6-2. Hasegawa was also a winner, taking down Unai Amilleta in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 10-5. Carlos Niemeyer and Carlos Meneses won at the bottom two spots in the lineup with Meneses overcoming an opening set loss.
The 'Fish are back in action on Monday as they host Division I Colgate University to open a six-match home stand at 4 p.m.
