HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis picked up their fourth straight win in South Carolina and fifth straight overall on Thursday, defeating Tiffin 5-2.
The 'Fish improved to 6-1 on the season with the victory as PBA won all three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches.
Three of the four singles wins came in straight sets with Thomas Salmon pulling out a three-set victory at the No. 5 spot. Salmon took the opener 6-2 before dropping the second 6-4. He bounced back to win the third 10-5.
Philipp Hoffmann and Umberto Rosi had little trouble at the top of the Sailfish lineup as Hoffmann won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 with Rosi winning 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2. Carlos Niemeyer was also a straight-sets winner, taking the No. 6 position 6-3, 7-5.
In doubles the Sailfish had little trouble disposing of the Dragons, winning No. 1 and 3 by identical scores of 6-3. At No. 2 the duo of Erik Carlsten and Rodolfo Hasegawa were able to pull out a 6-1 victory.
The Sailfish conclude their week on Friday against Mercyhurst at 9:30 a.m. before returning to West Palm Beach.
