HILTON HEAD, S.C. – For the second straight day the Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team picked up a 7-0 victory, this time defeating Catawba as the match was moved indoors due to rain.
PBA swept all three doubles matches as the 'Fish took the doubles point with ease. Pietro de Silva and Thomas Salmon were paired at No. 1 and won 6-3 while Erik Carlsten and Rodolfo Hasegawa won by the same score at No. 2. Philipp Hoffmann and Carlos Niemeyer were winners at No. 3 by a 6-2 score.
The 'Fish won five of the six singles matches in straight sets with Hasegawa dropping only one game in the process. The sophomore won 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 5 position. Carlsten was a winner at No. 4 while Umberto Rosi won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3. Hoffmann and de Silva were also winners while Carlos Niemeyer won by virtue of his opponent retiring.
The Sailfish are back in action on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. as they take on Coker.
