WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic softball slugged their way to an 8-1 win over Lynn on Friday night, picking up 10 hits in the game and winning their seventh game in a row. PBA improves to 20-14 on the season and 8-5 in SSC play.
The Sailfish got off to a good start in the game, as Magnolia West and Maddie Bertisch singled to lead off the game, and Bertisch came around to score an unearned run later in the inning. Alexis Guerra and Kaley Hinds singled in the second inning and both came around to score as Guerra scored on a West sac fly and Hinds scored on a Bertisch double.
Lynn scored an unearned run in the top of the third but the Sailfish scored two more runs in the third as Maddie Biggs launched her first home run of the season to put the 'Fish up 5-1.
The 'Fish scored three runs in the fourth inning as Katherine Budnovich and Janie McCloskey picked up hits in the inning.
Abbey Busby picked up the win on the day as she threw four strong innings not allowing an earned run. Taylor Pennica threw the final three innings of the game and did not allow a run to pick up her second save of the season.
Bertisch was the lone Sailfish player to pick up multiple hits in the game as the senior went 3-for-3 and scored two runs.
PBA and Lynn will be back at it tomorrow as they will play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
