WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis continued their impressive run, winning their 10th straight with a 6-1 decision over the University of Connecticut.
The No. 12 Sailfish took No. 1 and 3 doubles to secure the lone doubles point, with both teams having little resistance along the way. Umberto Rosi and Thomas Salmon won at No. 1 by a score of 6-2 over Yili Zheng and Hank Hill while Philipp Hoffmann and Carlos Niemeyer defeated Justin Warren and Evan Powell at No. 3, 6-1.
Hoffmann and Niemeyer had an easy time in singles as well, both winning in straight sets. Hoffmann defeated Zheng at No. 1, 6-2, 6-1 while Niemeyer was a winner at No. 6, 6-1, 6-3 over Powell. Rodolfo Hasegawa also won in straight sets, taking down Warren 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 while Pietro de Silva needed a second set tiebreak to put away Hill at No. 3, 6-1, 7-6 (2). Rosi needed a third set but managed to defeat Michael Holtmann at No. 2, 6-3, 6-7, 10-8.
The Sailfish are scheduled to be back in action on Monday at 4 p.m. against Sonoma State at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center. The match was originally scheduled for Tuesday but moved to Monday to do rain forecasted for Tuesday.
