WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – No. 12 Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis picked up their eighth straight win on Tuesday, defeating Southern New Hampshire 4-3 at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
The 'Fish won all three doubles matches with Philipp Hoffmann and Carlos Niemeyer cruising to a 6-3 victory at No. 3. Umberto Rosi and Thomas Salmon knocked off No. 25 duo Bas and Willem Van Biezen 7-5 at the No. 1 position while Erik Carlsten and Rodolfo Hasegawa held off Miguel Marreiros and Fernando Torres 7-6 as both matches finished within minutes of each other.
In singles play, Hasegawa put the Sailfish up 2-0 after his opponent retired due to injury prior to the start of the match. Rosi won in straight sets at No. 2, 6-3, 6-1 to put PBA within a point of clinching the match. Niemeyer secured the team victory with a 7-6, 6-0 victory at No. 5. All three singles victories for the Penmen went three sets.
The 'Fish are back in action on Thursday as they host Ferris State at 3 p.m.
