WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball lost a close fought game Wednesday night inside Rubin Arena. The Sailfish (9-12) were down by as much as 14 in the second half but gave themselves a chance to win the game in the final minute. In the end, the Spartans (10-12) were able to hold off the final efforts from PBA and won the game 66-63.

The first half was an even match-up throughout all 20 minutes. Both teams controlled a lead with the Sailfish being in control in the first 8 minutes and Tampa taking over the last 12. PBA closed the gap in the final second to put the halftime score at 31-27.  Andrew Moemeka had a strong half scoring nine of his 17 points going 4-for-5 from the floor in his 10 minutes of play.

The second half was all Spartans as they were out in front from 17 minutes remaining down to the final buzzer. The Sailfish used a 19-to-6 run to get back within one point with under a minute remaining. Two crucial Sailfish turnovers forced PBA to foul which pushed the Spartan lead to three. The 'Fish had a last second opportunity but were unable to get a shot off putting the final score at 66-63 in favor of Tampa.

De'Ondre Jackson led in scoring for the 'Fish putting up 19 points. Jackson went 3-for-4 from beyond the arc and 7-for-13 from the field. Moemeka added to his 17 points with six rebounds and monster block. Bakari Warthen had seven rebounds of his own and Matthew Johnson had five assists.

Palm Beach Atlantic will be back in action Saturday Feb. 9 in Winter Park as they travel to take on Rollins College. Tip is scheduled for 4 p.m.
