Sailfish Drop Weekend Contest To Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball dropped a Sunshine State Conference matchup to Embry-Riddle on Saturday night in Daytona Beach. The Sailfish (12-14) started out battling but the Eagles (13-17) took over and controlled the majority of the game. Embry-Riddle got the 90-81 victory.

The Sailfish offense was clicking in the first half as PBA connected on 55 percent of their shots which included 5-of-7 from three point land. Jules Jasmin went 4-for-5 in the half as the Sailfish scored 41 points but it wasn't enough to be on top heading into halftime as the Eagles shot 60 percent and were 6-for-13 on three-point shots. The Sailfish trailed 45-41 at half.

The Sailfish cooled off in the second half but they still shot 43 percent. Malek Barber had 15 of his 21 points in the second half as he went 5-for-11 from the floor. The Eagles had as much as an 18 point lead in the second half as they lead for the entire 20 minutes. The Sailfish got as close as seven points away but couldn't make a comeback as they fell 90-81.

The Sailfish will be back on the hardwood Wednesday Feb. 27 as they take on Nova Southeastern in Fort Lauderdale. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
