MIAMI, Fla.—The Palm Beach Atlantic men's golf team placed sixth in the Miami Intercollegiate following the final round this afternoon.
William Hartford and Martin Westerlund each shot the low rounds for the Sailfish during the opening 18 holes (73) by recording scores just three strokes over par. After registering a 296 as a team in the first round, PBA sat in sixth overall.
Hartford then helped Palm Beach Atlantic shave five shots off of its score with a two-over 72 during the second round of play. Jacob Shamblin followed suit by notching a 72 of his own; however, the Sailfish remained in sixth place through 36 holes.
In the final round of the tournament, PBA cut another seven strokes off of the overall score by shooting a 284. Shamblin used six birdies in the last 18 holes to record his second-lowest round of the season (68) en route to a tie for 11th place individually.
Diego Buttironi also shot a 70 in the last round to help the Sailfish maintain sixth place amongst tough competition.
Ben Clarke, who competed in the invitational as an individual, shot his lowest round of the year in the first round, a 75, before besting the mark by two strokes in the second round. The senior completed the tournament with a 223, good enough for a tie for 28th place.
Hartford ended Tuesday tied for 14th, while Westerlund finished tied for 17th.
Men's golf will be back in action next week as the team concludes its fall season with the McDonough Cup in Orlando on Monday and Tuesday.
