Volleyball Wins Third Straight, Sweeps Tars

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball team faced Rollins in its final home match before hitting the road for the GSC Crossover next weekend.

PBA (9-7, 4-4 Sunshine State Conference) went into the match with a 10-match win streak against the Tars, and the Sailfish continued the trend on Friday night. The 'Fish defeated Rollins (4-11, 1-6 SSC) in three sets for the third consecutive sweep against the Tars.

The Sailfish held full control of the match from start to finish. Rollins tried to keep up with PBA coming out of the gates, but they ultimately had no answer for the Sailfish attack. With PBA leading 10-9 in the first set, the 'Fish finished the second half of the set on a 15-6 run to win the set 25-15. Sam Wolf led the Sailfish with six kills in the set.

A trio of kills from Wolf and four errors from the Tars gave the Sailfish an 7-1 lead in the second set. Rollins cut into the deficit to make the score 9-7; however, an 8-1 run from PBA that included kills from Amber Rowoldt and Jordan Rush gave the 'Fish a 17-8 lead. The Sailfish won the set in dominating fashion, 25-12.

The most competitive set of the night came in the third set. PBA got out to a sloppy start, which allowed the Tars to take a 13-11 lead. The Sailfish responded with a 7-1 run which included kills from Wolf, Marlena Kincaid and Anna Gregerson to take an 18-14 lead. After two straight points from the visitors, PBA ended the set on another 7-1 run. Two kills from Caroline Swan slammed the door on the Tars and earned the Sailfish their third win in a row.

Rollins could not contain Wolf who hit .522 in the match. She finished with 14 team-high kills. Lilly Turner led the Sailfish with 15 digs, and Gregerson totaled four blocks on the night. Jazz Schmidt added 18 assists to PBA's cause.

The Sailfish will compete in Gulf South Crossover next weekend in Hoover, Ala. The seeding for the tournament will be determined next weekend. Stay tuned to pbasailfish.com for updates.
