Women's Track Ends Season At ERAU Spikes Classic

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's and women's track competed at the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic on Friday and Saturday.

The Sailfish saw several solid finishes in the large field as 19 other schools competed. Emily Van Duren had the best placement during the meet as she finished 7th in the javelin with a throw of 29.30 meters. Ty Fisher had the only top-10 finish for the men, taking 8th in the 5K with a time of 15:41.41.

Mike Smith placed in the top-20 in both the 800 meters and the 5K, running a 2:00.78 in the 800 to take 14th. He followed that up with a 20th place finish in the 5K, crossing the line in 16:17.35. Joshua Read was just behind Smith in the 800, placing 15th in a time of 2:00.90. He was also 14th in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:14.49.

On the women's side Isabelle Granlund had the top performance on the track, placing 11th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:25.86. She followed that up with a 5:11.78 in the 1500 meters. Cami Rickenbach led the team in the 1500, placing 17th in a time of 5:02.92. She was 21st in the 800, running a time of 2:32.20.

Jon Paul Ogle placed 13th in the javelin with a throw of 38.71 meters. Justin Nesbit placed 26th in the 1500 (4:25.19) and also finished 25th in the 800 (2:06.73). Fisher was 24th in the 800, running a 2:06.55.

In the women's 5K Elise Combs crossed in 20:41.62 to place 26th with teammate Jessica Lykins placing 29th with a time of 20:48.60.

The meet wraps up the season for the Sailfish in their inaugural campaign.
