Sailfish Unable To Pull Upset Against Panthers

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's lacrosse hung with No. 16 Florida Tech but were unable to pull off the upset as the Sailfish fell 12-8 to the Panthers on Saturday night.

PBA (4-9, 1-3 SSC) scored the game's first goal as Zack Figura found the back of the net off a feed from Jackson Miller with just over five minutes to go in the first period. The Panthers (7-4, 4-0 SSC) answered just before the end of the period as Logan Sweeney got FIT on the board.

In the second the Panthers scored three straight to take a 4-1 lead. Miller and Brendan Fischer added goals before the end of the half as PBA went into the break down just 5-3.

FIT pushed the lead out to 9-5 at the end of the third and scored three straight late in the fourth to extend the lead out to 12-6. The 'Fish scored the final two goals as Miller got his second and Trent Parker scored a man-up goal. Anthony Cresto also scored in the second half with Trevor Keena adding two goals.

Ben Savick made 17 saves in net for the Sailfish and also led the team with seven ground balls. The freshman faced 53 shots on the night and came up with several excellent stops. Miller and Colin Hayek added five ground balls for PBA. Harrison Wood led the team with three caused turnovers.

PBA is back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Lynn to take on the Fighting Knights at 7 p.m.
