HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis came up short in their bid for a perfect week, losing to No. 21 Tusculum 8-1 on Friday morning.
The 'Fish picked up their lone win in doubles as Yuliia Russu and Taylor Conti took down the nationally ranked duo of Annie McCullough and Caitlin McCullough. The McCulloughs came in ranked No. 20 nationally and No. 4 in the Southeast Region, but the Sailfish pair were able to win 8-6.
Michaela Mignemi and Nicole Reich battled tough at No. 3 doubles but came up short, 8-6, against Africa Mota and Amber Lackey. Romina Bolagay was the lone 'Fish to win a set in singles as she took the first from Angelica DeVincenzis at No. 6. DeVincenzis wound up with the match win, 3-6, 7-6, 10-4.
The Sailfish won't have much time off as they host Bluefield State on Monday at 3 p.m. at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
