WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic baseball won their ninth straight game on Friday night, as they defeated Chestnut Hill College by an 11-2 final score. The Sailfish improve to 15-5 with the victory while the Griffins fall to 4-4 on the year.
The Sailfish were in control from the start of Friday's game, as the offense scored early and often. A.J. Puigcerver knocked in the first run of the night, driving a ball to right-center field and scoring Riley Herold in the second inning. Mike Santaromita followed with a single, scoring another Sailfish run.
Herold drove in the third Sailfish run with a sacrifice fly in the third, and the 'Fish scored another run courtesy of a Chestnut Hill walk. The 'Fish added three runs in the fourth, as Ryan Johnson plated two with a double, and Kyle Simon added an RBI single.
Johnson plated two more with another two-RBI double in the fifth inning as the Sailfish took a commanding 9-0 lead.
Mikhail Cazenave was sharp on the night for the Sailfish, as he went four dominant innings allowing just one hit. The senior struck out six while walking none and picked up his seventh win of the season.
Kyle Polaski threw two scoreless innings for the Sailfish in relief, walking a batter and striking out two. Mac Hessney and Troy Klemm closed out the game on the night for the Sailfish, who lower their team ERA to 3.25.
The Sailfish scored their final two runs of the night in the bottom of the eighth, as Danny Tufariello doubled to the right field fence.
Johnson finished the night 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring three runs and driving in four. Connor Rowland also added three hits, as the junior went 3-for-5 with three doubles. Santaromita added two hits for the 'Fish, who tallied 14 hits in total.
The Sailfish will return to action tomorrow, March 10, at noon as they will host Chestnut Hill.
