WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis fell short on Friday afternoon, losing to No. 15 Florida Southern 7-2.
The Sailfish picked up their lone wins in singles as Bella Mermersky and Taylor Conti were both victorious. Mermersky – playing at No. 2 – was able to defeat Selin Devrimci in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. Conti bounced back after dropping the first set 6-1 to Lola Asis to take the next two 7-5, 10-8 to earn the win.
Yuliia Russu went three sets against Natalija Popovic but fell short 5-7, 7-6 (1), 10-2. The Mocs took the other three singles matches in straight sets. In doubles play the Mocs dominated, winning all three matches with the closest coming at No. 3 as Lorena Rionda and Popovic defeated Romina Bolagay and Michaela Mignemi 8-4.
The Sailfish are back in action on Thursday as they travel to Miami Shores to take on Barry at 3 p.m.
