WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis picked up their first conference win of the season on Wednesday, defeating Eckerd 8-1.
The 'Fish (10-8, 1-3 SSC) had little trouble dispatching the Tritons as Eckerd's lone win came at No. 2 singles as Vanessa Buchbinder was forced to retire in the second set due to injury. The sixth spot is where Eckerd was able to challenge PBA but Estefani Fernandez pulled out the third set to win 6-3, 3-6, 13-11.
In the other four singles matches the 'Fish dropped just five games combined as Bella Mermersky, Taylor Conti, Michaela Mignemi and Nicole Reich all picked up easy victories.
In doubles play Mignemi and Bolagay had the easiest victory at No. 3, defeating Laurence Bourgault and Isabella Wong 8-1. Yuliia Russu and Conti also picked up a win, 8-2, while Laura Andersen and Johanna Kern won 8-4 at No. 2.
PBA is back on the court on Saturday as they host Florida Tech at 12:30 p.m.
