WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis earned their first Sunshine State Conference victory of the season on Wednesday, defeating Eckerd 8-1 at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.

The Sailfish swept the doubles action, winning both No. 1 and No. 3 doubles by the identical 8-1 score. Philipp Hoffmann and Bernardo Ferreira got the win at No. 1 and Rodolfo Hasegawa and Thomas Salmon were winners at No. 3. Pato Zarazua and Pietro de Silva came away with an 8-4 win at No. 2.

In singles action Eckerd was able to pick up their lone point of the match at No. 3. Outside of that match it was all Sailfish as PBA won the other five matches in straight sets. Pietro de Silva shutout his opponent – Robert Vazques – on his way to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4. Both Hoffmann and Carlos Niemeyer dropped just two games as Hoffmann won 6-1, 6-1 and Niemeyer got his victory 6-2, 6-0. Zarazua and Salmon were also winners in singles play.

The Sailfish return to action on Saturday as they host Florida Southern at 3:30 p.m.
