BOCA RATON, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis couldn't measure up to No. 3 Lynn on Sunday, falling to the Fighting Knights 7-2 in the SSC opener for PBA.
The 'Fish picked up a win at No. 2 doubles as Pato Zarazua and Pietro de Silva were able to knock off Jose Porfirio and Kay Bartmann 8-3. Thomas Salmon and Rodolfo Hasegawa had the best showing of the other two doubles matches but lost 8-4 at No. 3 to Jean-Baptiste Mateo and Gabriel Hocevar.
The lone singles victory belonged to de Silva as he won at No. 5 over Hocevar. De Silva took the first set 7-5 before Hocevar retired. Hasegawa took the first set from Florian Clemares at No. 4 but Clemares came back to win the match, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Philipp Hoffmann battled Bartmann tough at No. 2 but came up just short in each set, losing 6-4, 7-5.
The Sailfish will have a day off Monday before playing Southeastern Oklahoma State at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
