WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis picked up a 9-0 win on Saturday, defeating Southeastern University at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
The 'Fish snapped a two match losing skid with the win as they were able to get 10 players into the match. PBA was dominant throughout, as the Fire took only five games in doubles and just 12 in the six singles matches.
Both Estefani Fernandez and Nicole Reich shutout their opponents in singles play, picking up identical 6-0, 6-0 wins. Yuliia Russu had almost the same easy path to victory, winning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3. Carolina Wakiyama, Bella Mermersky and Vanessa Buchbinder all also picked up victories in singles play.
PBA was just as good in doubles play as Romina Bolagay and Michaela Mignemi were 8-0 winners at the No. 2 spot. Johanna Kern and Fernandez were 8-1 winners at No. 3 with Russu and Taylor Conti winning at No. 1, 8-4.
The Sailfish finish off non-conference play by hosting Southeastern Oklahoma State on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
