LAKELAND, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's golf finished 15th at the Matlock Collegiate Classic this week, as they finished the tournament with rounds of 298, 315, and 316. The tournament contained a very strong field, as the top five teams in the country competed, and 12 ranked teams total.
The tournament was won by the hosts, Florida Southern, who finished the tournament 29-shots under par as a team.
The Sailfish put together a strong first round of 298 on Monday, but followed it with disappointing rounds of 315 and 316, as they finished the tournament at the back of the pack.
Brady Godwin led the 'Fish in scoring on the week, as he finished with rounds of 75, 75, and 80 for the tournament. Godwin finished in a tie for 64th overall in the large field.
Trent Harris had an up-and-down week, as he started with a great first-round of 72, but followed it up with rounds of 79 and 80. David Jizdny had a very similar tournament, as he fired a first-round one-under par 71, but finished the Matlock Collegiate Classic with rounds of 83 and 78.
Grant Horvat (82-79-78, 239) and Matt Youngblood (80-82-81, 243) rounded out the scoring for the Sailfish who were competing for the first time in the 2018 portion of their schedule.
The Sailfish will now have a week off before competing in the Saint Leo Invitational on Feb. 26-27 in Dade City, Fla.
