Men's Basketball Leads Throughout To Knock Off Rollins

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic never trailed on Saturday, finishing off a season sweep of Rollins with an 89-83 victory over the Tars. The Sailfish got out of the gate on an 11-2 run, scoring the first eight points of the game and never looked back.

PBA (13-14, 7-9 SSC) led by 11 at halftime after shooting 59 percent in the first half. Marshall Riddle scored 15 of his 18 in the opening 20 minutes as the senior connected on 5-of-10 from beyond the arc. He added another triple in the second half to finish with a team-high 18 points. The 'Fish finished the game shooting 54 percent and made 12-of-28 from long range.

Early in the second half the 'Fish pushed the lead out to its largest point, 14 points, on three separate occasions. The final time came at 62-48 with just over 10 minutes to play. Within three minutes the Tars cut the deficit down to just two points at 65-63 but the 'Fish matched Rollins bucket for bucket before pulling away with under three minutes to play, pushing the lead back to 10.

Rollins was never able to get closer than four down the stretch as the Sailfish made 10-of-12 at the free throw line in the final three minutes. PBA finished the game 17-of-24 at the line led by Jules Jasmin and Grant Gullett who both made 5-of-8.

De'Ondre Jackson led the effort in the second half, scoring 13 of his 17 after halftime. He made 5-of-6 from the field in the half and finished the game 7-of-10 from the floor. Jasmin scored all 11 of his points in the second half and finished the game with three offensive rebounds. Grant Gullett made 5-of-7 from the floor and scored 15 points and pulled in nine rebounds, including four offensive boards.

Leading the Sailfish offense all night long was Michael Stones who contributed nine assists and five points. Those nine assists bested his previous season high of six, set just two games ago against Barry. Dakota Zinser also reached double figures in scoring and finished with 10 points as the Sailfish had five players score in double digits. Lucas Morales pulled down eight rebounds for the 'Fish and finished with six rebounds.

The Sailfish will return home to finish the season with three of four inside Rubin Arena. PBA will host Tampa on Valentine's Day with tip scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
