PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's golf finished eighth at the Shark Invitational which was hosted by Nova Southeastern at PGA National Golf Course. The invitational included three of the top five schools in the nation. The Sharks finished in first place with fellow Sunshine State Conference members Florida Southern, Barry, and Tampa following closely behind.
Jewel Jorgensen was the top Sailfish today as she finished tied for 33rd with a score of 22 over par. Jorgensen shot two rounds of 81 but her best round was the second as she shot a 78 where she had four birdies.
Deanna Confessore shot an 89 on her first round followed by a 78 on her second round and a 79 on her final round. She had three birdies on her second round and one in her final round which allowed her to place 45th. Alex Dowd finished tied for 51st with rounds of 81, 85, and an 84 to finish +34 on the day.
Ryanne Jackson (79-89-79, +38) and NoraNoel Nolan (80-90-82, +36) rounded out the scoring for the Sailfish in the opening tournament of the season. Taylor Sukmana (86-87-83, +40) competed as an individual.
The Sailfish will be back in action next week as they return to Palm Beach Gardens on Oct. 15-16 to compete in the NCAA Division II National Preview.
