WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer was able to hold off Rollins College on Saturday night, 1-0, as the 'Fish improved to 11-1 overall and 5-1 in the Sunshine State Conference.
PBA scored the lone goal from the penalty spot as Alex Stoiljkovic converted for his second goal of the season. The penalty was awarded after Marc Hebbeker was taken down in the box along the end line. Despite the Sailfish taking 15 shots, only four of them found their way on target. The best chance came late in the match as Drew Fulmer got by the Tars' back line in the 89th minute but was just beat to the ball by Eidur Ivarsson from Rollins.
Elliott Barker made two saves in goal for the 'Fish but his punch away on a free kick inside the final minute helped preserve the shutout, the fourth on the season for Barker. PBA has now held seven of their 11 opponents without a goal this season, but just two of their six conference opponents.
PBA now sits in a three-way tie for first in the SSC with Lynn and Nova Southeastern with all teams at 5-1 with 15 points. Barry is just behind that group with 13 points with Florida Southern and Florida Tech at 12 points.
The 'Fish will travel to Fort Lauderdale to take on Nova Southeastern on Wednesday with the match scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
