Barker, Burrows Lead 'Fish To Victory Over Sharks

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – No. 4 Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer picked up their sixth win in conference play on Wednesday as Jack Burrows notched his fifth goal of the season as PBA defeated Nova Southeastern 1-0.

The 'Fish (12-1, 6-1 SSC) were held off the board until Drew Fulmer was fouled in the box in the 76th minute which led to the game's only goal. Jack Burrows stepped to the spot and placed the ball into the net for his fifth goal of the season and his second game-winner. Burrows has been a clutch player of late with a game-winner at Tampa in overtime and the game-tying goal against Barry late in the match.

Elliott Barker made only two saves in the match but both were big. Just a minute before the goal Barker saved a bending attempt from Ignacio Goya from just outside the 18-yard box. Barker dove to keep the ball out of the net as Goya put the shot around a five-member Sailfish wall.

Later in the 81st minute Juan Nunez had a point blank attempt but Barker stopped it with his foot to keep the shutout intact. Barker earned his fourth shutout of the season and the seventh for the Sailfish.

PBA moves to sole possession of first place in the SSC standings with the victory. The 'Fish entered the night tied with the Sharks and Lynn. Lynn was knocked off by Barry on Wednesday night 2-0 which means PBA is alone at the top with 18 points. Barry moves into second with 16 points while Nova Southeastern and Lynn are tied for third with 15 points.

The Sailfish have won all six of their league matches by a single goal.

The 'Fish will travel across the state on Saturday to take on Eckerd College in St. Petersburg at 7 p.m.
